How To Do........

The Masking Technique

The DT are all doing stamping projects on the Craft Barn Blog this week and I decided I would do a favourite of mine.... Masking !!
I've used Jofy stamp sets number 13 and 14 for my design and I've coloured the images with Distress Markers - I seem to be using these quite a lot lately . Around the card I've used Distress Inks. All the little dots are covered with Glossy Accents to make them pop a little more.

This is how it looks before the colouring starts

Hope this inspires you to have a go. All the step by step instructions are on the blog

There will be lots more techniques on the blog for you to have a go at

Wallet Tutorial

Right Here Goes.........

Start by cutting a sheet of A4 card to 16.5cm wide x the A4 length.
Score at 10 and 11cm and then at 21 and 22cm
Round the corners on the end

Fold the score lines

Cut a piece of card 9.5cm long and score it at every half centimetre 7 times (3.5cm)
Repeat for a second panel

Concertina them both up and put a narrow strip of red tape on each end

Attach the folded strips to each side of the wallet

Fold over the wallet keeping the edges together

Cut a strip of card 2cm wide and wrap it around the wallet.
Don't pull too tight or you won't have room to put anything in the wallet.
Cut off excess card and glue the ends together

Decorate as you wish
I cut the paper for the band at 1.5cm so it leaves an edge of card on the band and I always cut the papers to leave a border of card showing

Hope this helps you to make lots of wallets

A Tutorial....

Hi Bloggers, hope you are all fit and well
At two recent demonstrations I've been showing how to make a little wallet which can hold a card, gift voucher, ticket or even money (of the note kind)
I promised I would do a tutorial here for a few of the ladies at Daisy Jewels and Crafts

There is two versions on the table here made with Marion Smith Collections. I did a male and a female version
So if you can pop back tomorrow I will have all the details and pics here for you to follow. Sorry can't do it now as I'm surrounded  by sample work for upcoming demos and workshops but I promise I'll have it done to post tomorrow
Hope you can pop back
P xx

Ps I've updated my demo/workshop schedule if you want to know where I'll be in the coming months

A Day At......

Daisys
Another fabulous Demo Day with the Lovely Wendy and Jeff and their customers.
I was asked to Demo with Marion Smith papers and here are a few of my samples

so do you like the glue bottle adding a touch of craftiness to the pic? How could I not have noticed it!!

Here's the other Tussie Mussie cone I told you about before. This one doesn't have a handle and I've used the Sizzix Tim Holtz Tattered Florals and Tattered Leaves Die for the flowers. I've used a 12"x12" paper to make it with and it looked lovely filled with Easter Eggs - long gone now!!!

All these are from Mad Tea Party Collection

One for the guys from Nirvana Collection with some Scrapberrys embellishments

I had a great day and look forward to a return visit in April

Brusho Sketchbook...

It's DT project time again and my day on the Craft Barn Blog

Well I did tell you it was gonna be a favourite product this week and of course it's the wonderful Brushos. I've used them along with watercolour paper, and some stamps, to cover a sketchbook

I'm loving this wording stamp it's from a PaperArtsy set. I've used Kaisercraft stamps for the background designs.

Those of you that follow me will know of my notebook fetish and Brushos work amazingly well to do this both on a watercolour paper cover or even directly onto the book.  I've joined two sheets of paper together to make it.

This is the largest book I've done

I've kept this one quite simple and concentrated more on how to achieve the technique and how to cover the sketchbook. As usual if you hop across to the Craft Barn Blog you can get all the step by step details

A Return To .........

The Roses

This week the Craft Barn is having a second visit to some DT Projects Previouly shown.
Today is my turn and the lovely Jane has chosen to show my roses made with the DecoArt Interferance Paint.
These are also the roses I've promised to make for Andy Skinner!! What must I have been thinking when I said "Of Course Andy, No Problem" I think those words may come back to haunt me.
So here they are those lovely roses.

And just to show how different they can look made in paper these were made from Graphic45 Steampunk Spells Collection

To end with this is my favourite rose. This started it's life as plain white card that I inked with Distress Inks and stamped with one of the stamps from an IndigoBlu set called Nottingham Lace

Now back to the grindstone of rose making for Mr Skinner, bless him!!

Lets Catch Up......

I'm getting a bit slow on the old blog these days, soo much to be doing, but something I must firstly do is to say a big belated welcome to the latest followers. It's lovely to have you here. All the comments are so important to me.
So now how about a few designs I've been playing with. There's been a few cards doing the rounds using a coloured background in a design so here's three designs I've done in this style

This one is using a diamond stencil Evergreen Bough Distress Ink and a Honey Doo stamp. I love the elegance of this design and the clean lines

So now I've moved on to something a little more technical. This is using the same stencil again but I've turned it around. I've also had to mask off different areas of the stencil so that I can use different colours of ink.

Same technique here too. I love this thistle stamp

Last week saw me back at Inspirations by Cardcraft Plus in Preston. I do love my visits there and would like to say a big thank you to the team for their hospitality and to the lovely ladies who came to visit
Here is some of the samples I made

These Tussie Mussie Cones were really popular with the ladies and also the gift wallets

I've another Tussie Mussie cone to show you that I've made for my demo at Daisy Jewels and Crafts in Coventry on Saturday 21st March but I'll keep that one for another visit

DecoMache.....

In a different way

When I saw this weeks DT project was to use DecoMache papers I immediately wanted to do something different than tearing them into pieces.
I decided to use them to cover a box in whole sections
I painted the secret drawer book box with Scattered Straw Distress Paint first to give it a base colour then I stuck the papers on with Glue And Seal. I also gave the whole box another coat.
The flowers was die cut with a Tattered Floral die

Next weeks project is a favourite product.... Hmmmmm can you guess?? You'll have to wait and see

Now just a quick mention about the Crafty Bunch Retreat. Well we are totally blown away by the response and looks like being a sell out within days of the announcement. Thank you to everyone who gas booked with us and roll on October !!!

So roll on October!!!

Now it's about time I show you a bit of crafting I've been playing around with

This is a trianglular gift box I've made as a sample for my demo at Inspirations in Preston this Friday. I've used the Kaisercraft All That Glitters Collection. I'm going to make a narrower version which will give a  different look to it

This card I love, it's a HoneyDoo Stamp and Tim Holtz wording. I picked the stamp up at a small local show and fell in love with it. I think it would look amazing on a scrap layout so it may be making a return appearance very soon. I've used distress inks to colour as a wash.

Right time to hit the craft room again so see you soon

Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit.....

Calendar time

Happy March everyone !! TWO months gone already!!!
So that means it's time for the next calendar challenge at the Craft Barn and this month the remit was to use rabbits and the colour yellow
I've chosen to use PaperArtsy Jofy stamps for my design and some little rabbits from a Tando Mini kit.
I've used Distress Markers to add the colour and I've glazed the letters with Glossy Accents. I think it looks clean and fresh all ready for spring.

Sorry for the poor quality of the picture technology is not playing fairly today

Check out the other calendar designs on the Craft Barn Blog   http://thecraftbarnblog.blogspot.co.uk/

Now to think about April........ to be continued
